During these days the Star Wars Celebration took place in Orlando . A commemorative event that is held annually to talk about the latest developments in the most famous galactic saga and to remember great moments of the franchise accompanied by hundreds of fans. In this framework of the convention there is also room for video games, Electronic Arts, along with DICE, has had a significant presence at the fair. Star Wars: Battlefront II: Five Things You Need to Succeed.
Days before the official presentation of his trailer, the material, leaked through all the networks revealing more than interesting aspects about the content of the title that will arrive this year 2017. We could see Darth Maul in a showdown against Yoda , Kylo Ren And Rey, you could also see classic trilogy vehicles such as X-wing or TIEfighters . It is a fact that in this new shooter we will confront all the ages of the most distant galaxy.
Also one of the most interesting points was the narration that could be heard in the filtered trailer. It featured a female character that is not possible to identify for the moment but that has all the look of being the protagonist of the campaign in which they will introduce Electronic Arts and DICE.
Star Wars: Battlefront II: Five Things You Need to Succeed
Doing a review for the first part we realize that it had serious shortcomings that made buying it not a very safe bet. Once you got into your Empire armor, it did not seem like much could be done if you did not have enough credits to get the season pass. Little game modes, the scenarios became repetitive quickly, not even with the season pass and expansions the title took the course it deserved. The DLC that included new characters seemed a real joke as they just changed their skin with some added that was not very interesting either.
It seemed that Electronic Arts and DICE had gone to the Dark side with a DLC policy quite unfair to users. With this method of payment it was possible to unbalance a game at any time. In the wake of these scandalous events, it seems that companies have listened attentively to the feedback provided by the «rebellion» of players and have been amended to the path of light. These are five points calve that should have Star Wars: Battlefront II to be what it deserves.
1.Inclusion of a campaign
Yes, Battlefront is a shooter and multiplayer is the strong point of this type of titles but Star Wars has such a rich universe that it is a sin to throw it away and despise the inclusion of a campaign. Already happened in the first and the response of the users was completely negative. DICE has included campaigns in their Battlefield , with more or less quality, leaving history orphan to a Star Wars game has not been a wise decision.
At least both Electronic Arts and DICE have taken good note of the complaints of players and in this sequel we can enjoy a campaign. Cross fingers so that it does not turn out to be loaded with emptiness as that would be a double-edged sword for the franchise.
2. Change in DLC policy
Electronic Arts has proven to be a rather abusive company in matters of contents downloadable before step by box. The company has promoted the imbalance in the games since the advantages that certain users had were much greater than those of others. In this way it has been encouraging many players to abandon the title due to frustration.
However it seems that Electronic Arts has learned the lesson by listening and we have already seen that in Titanfall 2 , another of its great shooters, have implemented a fair and careful system for competitive multiplayer. In fact all the downloadable content that has been imposed in the title has been of character, exclusively, gratuitous. Well for the company in this respect and we hope you do the same with this Star Wars: Battlefront II.
3. Season Pass and Expansions with content
If you decide to include a season pass for this new intergalactic war adventure, it would be fair to be rich in content. The price of the previous pass exceeds the limits of sanity and more if we stop to analyze their additions. I’m going to put an example that made me very angry: finding characters that are already in the game, see a Rodian with a simple skin that makes Greedo is quite unfortunate. And it is most unfortunate when Star Wars has hundreds of possibilities that can enrich the game in a colossal way.
The expansions were supposed to be thematic (Rogue One or Bespin ) and bring some wealth but, in my opinion, they fell short in the attempt. A few hours later you would end up tired and ended up abandoning the game, as was my case. We will see how this issue is solved and are unable to find the exact formula.
4. Space battles and variety of maps
One of the big mistakes of the previous installment of the shooter was to eliminate the space battles. I speak of the battles at the edge of the stars in which dozens of TIE fighters hovered over our poor X-wing, the company decided to include these wars from the sky within the planets, on their surface, and honestly, they were not so spectacular Such as the Battlefront of Pandemic Studios.
Another point that has made my experience more tedious is the control that DICEimplements in its vehicles. I do not think that the left stick and the right change their functions to pilot, I was lethal in Battlefront and also in Battlefield 1 , in my experience. Eventually this point got him to completely abandon the desperate air combat.
The colophon arrives with the twelve playable maps that were presented at the beginning. Star Wars , just with its classic trilogy, has a number of scenarios and overwhelming planets. Taking twelve maps for a game that breathes, exclusively, the multiplayer is a serious mistake that should not be repeated since it is a death assured.
5. Overall improvements that bring depth
Collecting the feedback I’ve received through Twitter we all agree on one thing, we need a much more extensive and in-depth multiplayer. It is noticeable that the first delivery left in haste to throw itself near the premiere of the episode VII: The Awakening of the Force and they lacked to polish different aspects.
We want more HUD options and a more extensive personalization mode that makes us feel part of the Star Wars universe. The greater number of vehicles available, it now seems that all ages will come together in a single game so this problem should be solved. More players per game from 40 to 64 as in Battlefield 1 , in addition to having dynamic meteorology would bring a huge realism to the game. A hardcore mode, with no supports of any kind would delight the veterans in this of the shooter.
There is also fear that the campaign is similar to the one of For Honor, that is so slight and superficial that leaves to us half again. Someone else wants pod races but that’s what we leave it to Star Wars: Racer, right? For my part, do you remember that multiplayer mode of laser saber combat in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast ? It was simply brutal, fun, addictive, we need something so it fits into this era.
Anyway today comes the official trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront II and we are running out of midi-chlorians in the hopes. At 20:30 we have an appointment with the screen and Electronic Arts at the Orlando Convention.
