Bandai Namco has registered a possibly new Dark Souls game. Euipo official website (European Union Intellectual Property Office) shows the new trademark, which took place on 03-02-2017. However, neither Bandai Namco nor From Software have confirmed a new Dark Souls is in development.
Euipo shows two other Dark Souls registers, which were made before this one. The first one dates from 06-01-2011 and the second one from 02-23-2016. Boths dates were really close to Dark Souls (10-07-2011) and Dark Souls III’s (03-24-2016) releases. However, nothing is shown about Dark Souls II. In any case, all data is the same in the three registers; data about owners and representatives.
Euipo is not the only trademark website that shows moves about Dark Souls franchise. Justia, website that gathers all information about American trademarks, displays new moves on Dark Souls trademark. Moves that han been done this year.
There has been quite some rumors about a new Dark Souls game being in development. From Software has recently updated its recruiting website. As we can see the company is looking for some developers to work on an unknown game.
Job categories are mainly from the artistic department; Concept Artist, Environment Concept Artist, Character Modeler or Motion Designer. In particular From Software is looking for people whose skills are similar to what the company has been doing until now. Games like Dark Souls are shown as an example of what From Softare wants from its team.
However, neither Bandai Namco nor From Software have officialy announced anything about a new Dark Souls game. This movements could really mean anything; perhaps even just legal updates Bandai Namco is compelled to, as Dark Souls IP’s owner. So right now we cannot asure From Software is working on a new Dark Souls game, even a new title has been registered.
