As every year the prestigious magazine EDGE has chosen the ones that are for them the 100 best video games of all time. A list that year after year is changing and whose crown has fallen on this occasion in a title of launching a console, neither more nor less than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
The list – which you can see here – has been developed in a totally impartial way – they claim – includes games from the last 40 years, from classics like Tetris or Bomberman to top games like The Witcher III, DOOM, Overwatch or Titanfall 2. However what most catches the attention of the list is as far as exclusive titles are concerned. Throughout the 100 chosen games we find exclusive Playstation like The Last of Us, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 or Final Fantasy XII. In regards to Nintendo takes the palm because the list is full of exclusive of the brand as several deliveries of The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Metroid or Bayonetta 2.
The least exclusive brand on the list, even below Sega’s Megadrive, is Xbox. A platform with more than 15 years of history and three consoles behind it has only one name on the list: Halo 3. And nothing less than in position 39. There are other games that in their day were exclusive as Bioshock or Mass Effect 2 , but at the time they became multiplatform so we can not count them as exclusive.
Personally I think there are many exclusive games of the Xbox brand that should be included in that list, without going further the original Gears of War was a milestone in Xbox 360, both graphic level and its multiplayer. We also have authentic jewelry like Lost Odyseey, Crackdown, Ninja Gaiden Black or the Fable saga. And what do you think? Would you add some exclusive Xbox platform to the list?
